we are moving!

we are moving!!

this is our new home.we closed early this morning and then brought in an indoor tree first; a fresh start- just like the christmas tree we carried in almost six years ago when we bought our first home in the middle of december. it was just the two of us then; holiday music playing + decorating our white flocked tree with a bottle of prosecco. we will be leaving soon with two little boys and many cherished family moments-  it’s very bittersweet.

i can’t wait to feel the canopy of old trees sway from above, to rock our babies in the sunroom, plant garden beds together, enjoy cozy winter fires, and just take in the quietness.

we are so happy to be staying and planting more roots in a city we love. for the past few years, we have discussed moving to the midwest (cincinnati) or even abroad … but the carolina’s have become ‘home’ in many ways. north carolina is gorgeous (close to the beach and the mountains) and we have the best village here. also, parks got into a public montessori school and that’s our dream for our kids (we are so thrilled). so for now- we are staying. and maybe someday, tim and i will be sipping coffee on a street corner at a quaint cafe in europe or eating dinner super late like the locals and exploring…

we celebrated with a trip to the batch house for some delicious baked goods – thank you, cris for this special charlotte spot.

a pale yellow butterfly has been following and guiding and giving reassurances to us since mid-summer . and moving as we enter my favorite seasons of the year makes my soul sing.

i feel so grateful. we plan to honor it and take care of it and put a lot of work + love into hopefully making it our own. praying it brings us good and sweet and beautiful memories- together.

i love the browns and creams and whites + we plan to blend our love for old and new pieces.
we are excited to have an older home with anticipated projects!

a scene from the batch house – the best treats in town.the boys are excited… mostly for space to run and for the ‘secret doors’ (“just like willy wonka’s,” parks says) in the bonus room.i can’t wait to share more of this journey with you all soon…
