sweet valentines

“late spring” from felicity part II called Love

Finally the world is beginning
to change, its fevers mounting,
its leaves unfolding.
and the mockingbirds find
ample reason and breath to fashion
new songs. They do. You can
count on it.
As for lovers, they are discovering
new ways to love. Listen, their windows are open.
You can hear them laughing.
Without spring who knows what would happen.
A lot of nothing, I suppose.
The Leaves are in all in motion now
the way a young boy rows and rows
in his wooden boat, just to get anywhere.
Late, late, but now lovely and lovelier.
And the two of us, together- a part of it.

valentines day was a week ago but it was such a sweet day here that i wanted to share some memories – for always.

things i always want to remember |

01. parks walking into our room and saying, “who’s ready for valentines…” to me with the sweetest voice and basket of drug store treats. the lipstick, named everbloom, was just lovely.
02. treating parks to breakfast in bed and a new book, birdsong. he lit up when he saw the balloon and tray … i wanted to make it special for him since he is still doing virtual school and didn’t get to celebrate with his friends like nash got to.
03. brunch and board games as a family
04. surprising my husband with a travel hammock (one you hang on two trees) for our park dates and picnics and travels; one our whole family can fit in
05. fresh flowers from him
06. a fleetwood mac vinyl and candles
07. my husband and i always do spicy takeout (thai this year) and a six-pack of craft beer
08. we finished schitt’s creek together- one of our favorite shows ever. ‘simply the best’
09. watching my boys go through nash’s school valentines together + those thrifted tweed pants
