making a home | our kitchen

“live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find eternity in each moment.” – henry david thoreau

every window in our new home is like looking out into a fall painting right now
i have always connected with the timeless metaphor of trees and how they so beautifully share with us perspectives on how we can view the world
so living in this home feels like a haven. and reminds me to be grateful daily
we are all creating a new rhythm here and are beginning to change and add and paint and decorate tiny corners and spaces throughout our home. we decided to focus on the kitchen first… so i thought i would share a small glimpse. so far we have changed: the paint on the walls and ceilings (sherwin williams | pure white), the lighting (only one more to go/we need a taller ladder- but we have changed five so far), the hardware, a new white matte sink, a gold faucet, countertops (white quartz- i think it’s so beautiful.), the design of the bar/island area (more soon on this), backsplash (traditional white subway tile). we still need to update the flooring- so excited to add more warmth with wood floors (instead of the tiles) to compliment the creams and whites. we also plan to paint the built-in desk (from oak to a beige/taupe color) and then hang some art. we have been spending most of our weekends doing home projects and hope to this weekend as well… before we hang things up until after the holidays. our hope is to take in the season and enjoy slow family days together. if covid has taught me anything, it’s that being around people and embracing our loved ones is what really matters. there are so many dreams and projects we hope to do … but being together this upcoming holiday season and creating memories is more important.
