how to display supermarket flowers + a spring giveaway!

we love to keep fresh flowers in our home
esp. from trader joe’s and the local farmer’s markets
or mr. monaco brings them home to surprise me- he’s really good at that.
he claims my reactions are too good not to!
and with spring’s arrival today {yay!}
here are five ways to display your supermarket flowers:

one: small vases or jars

– i love a variety of small jars/vases as a centerpiece – or sometimes i take one large arrangement and divide it up into several and place them around willow. whether it’s a bunch of colors, clear, or gold {i have spray painted small vases before- esp. for bridal showers- here is my sister’s shower from last summer- in case you missed it!} and it looks bold, classy, and vibrant.

 two: baskets
wicker or wire – you can’t go wrong displaying an arrangement of flowers. so lovely.

three: totes

i also love florals in a tote or bag – adorable. you can keep them fresh by putting them in a small bag of water {wrapped with a rubber band} — an amazing organic look for a day out on the town, traveling to visit a friend, or an intimate picnic.

four: crates/wooden boxes

i am all about some wooden crates lately… beautiful for a wedding or a more simple display at home. you can find these reasonable at flea markets or on etsy

five: mercury glass

we had mercury glass throughout our wedding and it was love at first sight after that. it’s gorgeous in both silver and gold. several stores sell cheap vases and votives and it makes the most feminine, timeless, and beautiful look for any occasion.

how do you love to display supermarket flower?
also, can i please tell you that mr. monaco just came up with a bowl of soup
on a chilly & rainy evening
because he knows it’s 9pm and i haven’t had dinner – seriously so sweet.
 wishing you a wonderful weekend!
…any exciting plans?

I just bought roses and carnations from Costco and some ranunculus from our grocery store! I've got spring fever but it's SNOWING here today! Also, since you love boxes/crates, I wanted to share this with you. Monica Potter (Kristina on Parenthood) has her own home goods line at mrspotter.com and she has this adorbs barn box in her shop that is made from reclaimed wood from old barns in Ohio (she's from Cleveland). Here's a link to it. I'm *thisclose* to buying one myself! mrspotter.com/product/vintage-barn-box/

Oh how I love flowers, and how I miss wildflowers. Growing up we would pick fresh wildflowers all summer long to display. Here they're stinky and have a lot of bugs in em… and they're not so pretty. I'm always picking up fresh blooms from the supermarket when I can though!
