a grateful heart – january reflections

it is not joy
that makes us GRATEFUL.
 …
it is gratitude that makes us JOYFUL.
i recently saw this quote and it’s just so true:
“it doesn’t make sense to call ourselves ugly, because we don’t really see ourselves. we don’t watch ourselves sleeping in bed, curled up and silent with chests rising and falling with our own rhythm. we don’t see ourselves reading a book, eyes fluttering and glowing. you don’t see yourself looking at someone with love and care inside your heart. there’s no mirror in your way when you’re laughing and smiling and happiness is leaking out of you. you would know exactly how bright and beautiful you are if you saw yourself in the moments where you are truly yourself.”
this is so beautiful, don’t you think?
reflecting on january:
-i filled willow with succulents – just can’t get enough
-we explored raleigh saturday and had a great time with friends {photos coming soon!}
we walked around the city/parks, went to the cutest coffee shop {perfect for our new #simplygreycoffeetour} went to a wine shop, a mexican restaurant, nat green’s brewery.
-the decorating process in our new home continues… enjoying it very much.
-lots of flea market trips.
-still absolutely loving the cookbook, sunday suppers
-wearing lots of side braids these days- just like my childhood days.
-focused on being as active as possible…
-and drinking lots of yummy smoothies.
 -thankful for my fitbit… it tracks literally everything so well and encourages me to conquer the day.
-and lastly, enjoying old episodes of sex and the city and gilmore girls- both never get old.
{bring back vivid memories of my days in germany- no iphone, car, internet- these series consumed my life and i loved it}
