snapshots of life lately

there are so many things i want to share with you all but i have been busy cuddling with this little baby bear and have been trying to rest, focus on feedings, and spend time with my mom. i truly don't want her to leave... she goes back to ohio on friday and our time together has been beyond special. the lady is a saint and has been so helpful.
he loves his mimi so much already
 here are a few things that have occurred over the weekend that i thought i would share- but hope to share lots more soon!
 he loves snoozing in his moses basket
parks' first snow
 occurred on his seventh day
{and snow in charlotte is very rare! as in once or twice a winter}
we ventured out for about two minutes to snap some photos
secretly, i think he loved it.
 we enjoyed a cozy day at home with homemade chili soup and mexican cornbread
+ a newborn photo shoot
sunday morning we ventured over to the amazing studio of kinston photography, which is owned by tiffany ashmore. if you are in the charlotte area and are looking for a newborn/maternity/family photographer, i can't say enough about her. she is so patient, genuine, kind, fun, and so talented. she took her time with our baby boy and did more than was expected. tiffany has been so encouraging to me over the past week by talking to me about the recovery process/giving me feeding advice and even had a goodie bag of essential oils to give me that are known to help with postpartum. you may remember but she also did our maternity photos in december. she is so wonderful
here are a few from 'behind the scenes.'
i can't wait to share the photos with you soon!
our first {non doctor appointment} family adventure out of the house!
our big brown-eyed boy
she has all of the props, hats, clothes for your use- all cute and more than you can imagine!
-baby bowties get me every time-
my mom was again- so helpful.
nine days old and baby modeling
he was such a good boy!
...she was beyond patient and so fantastic to work with...
i hope your week is going well!
and i hope to be back more regularly soon
however, i am still recovering {more and more each day- yay!}
and the baby snuggles are just too good to pass up!
i am simply so in love.

currently {1.22.16}

we are enjoying a cozy snow day here in charlotte- full of baby snuggles. there is a fresh coat of snow on the ground and ice on the roads so we are staying put at home. my mom {an absolute godsend this week} has homemade chili soup on the stove and we plan to watch a movie tonight. i am recovering more and more each day and am feeling so much better regarding my c-section recovery. baby seems to be calm, happy, and has adjusted to eating {the beginning of the week was rough- esp. at night- to say the least} knowing he's happy now- makes me beyond happy. a huge thank you for all of the baby love regarding welcoming parks james into the world- it means so much to us. every one of your comments, messages, and emails were so special and appreciated.
this will be baby based- as i am one week into motherhood and am over the moon in love.

thinking | i could not be more lucky for all of the encouraging and supportive people in my life. it's been so touching to see {and makes me emotional every time i think about it} countless love from so many people- and my heart is so grateful.

pondering | can life get any better?

needing | a little bit more sleep but i don't mind waking up with him at night... if he needs something, it doesn't bother me to conquer my fatigue.

listening | tift merritt and norah jones are simply perfect for a snowy winter day.

dreaming | about being able to move freely without pain- i know it's so soon. trying to tell myself to savor each moment with him and that it won't last much longer.

swooning | i find myself just staring at him for hours... i am just so in love with every little bit of him. i love to play with his black hair, stare at those little lips, and touch his baby soft skin.
 can't get enough snuggles with my little boy
mom + baby snow day essentials
 cute little baby feet- wearing his long johns to stay warm today
wishing you a warm, safe, and cozy weekend!
any fun plans?

simply love is three years old!

if this blog were a baby {still no sign of baby boy! official due date is tomorrow- thanks for all of the love/checking in/messages} ... it would be headed into its early pre-school years.  yesterday, this blog turned three and today i begin my fourth year as a blogger.  i am sitting here in awe of how much i have learned, the people i have met, the inspirational moments- the journey.  i randomly plopped myself down at my computer and said hello to the unknown faces of the internet on a random winter day.  i never would have imagined the result- it's simply been so wonderful. my life has been changed for the better; as i have shared pieces of my life with you {i look at this blog as a love letter to the people around me} my space, ideas, thoughts, home, pregnancy, creations, and heart. blogging was so unknown to me and yet i took the leap.  i don't do this for the numbers, money, analytics- i do it for the people who have shared that they have been inspired, encouraged, who have prayed for me/with me when i needed it most, who lift me up - you have all helped me grow and have helped me find more of my identify~ always challenging me to become a better person.  and for this, i am very thankful.

looking forward to many more years and memories shared in this space but
for today, pull up a slab of virtual cake and let's party!

happy third birthday, little blog. and thanks so much for the following, reading, friendships
it means so much.

baby boy monaco's nursery tour

the nursery is officially ready to welcome a baby! it seems surreal and i can't wait to meet this little guy, whom i am destined to fall madly, deeply in love with. when we found out that we were having a baby boy, i knew i wanted the nursery to be gray, white {light/airy} with rustic, vintage, and personal touches.  the room is pretty small but has three large windows {which is why some of the photos were really hard to take!} i love the natural light though. in late october, my dad created a white accent wall on one wall {it's about 3/4 of the way up with hooks- so in love with how it turned out! thank you so much, dad!}  it helped give the tiny room a lot more character. seeing everything come together has been emotional and so special- i had the best time gathering pieces between july-december. i poured my heart and soul into his little room. i am so excited to share it all with you today- i hope you enjoy it! it feels serene, peaceful, and calm to me- which is what i hope he feels in his space, too.

the nursery tour:
the quilt hanging on the bed was my blanket when i was a little girl- made with love by my paternal grandma, leona
the bookshelves are from ikea - $4.99! each
mary poppins stole my heart as a child.
the crib is simple and mid-modern
i have loved it for years and searched endlessly at all options but came back to this one from babyletto- the hudson crib
{we both love it!}
i am also hoping to share more of his closet with you soon
we used bins, baskets, and organizers to make more room
most of his clothes are consignment/were on sale/vintage from instagram
i loved searching for pieces for him
{clothes for baby boys were surprising aDoRaBle!}
this fox paining was painted by mr. monaco's maternal grandma - it's so precious!!
our baby photos/family photos surround the room
the lord's prayer, a forest print, a personalized window my godmother made for baby that says 'love you to the moon and back,' and a letter i wrote him are also ready to be hung on a gallery art wall soon {hanging these pieces is the only step left!}
my aunt judy gave us this mobile and it's perfect
she also has a love for birds like i do!
the utility cart was purchased at ikea!
print from urban outfitters
we picked up this guy at the paris market in savannah on our babymoon
he's from blabla kids- my favorite stuffed animals!
the curtains are white with light gray poms
i love you.
forever and ever.
the glider fits perfectly in this little corner of the room
{we love everything about it!!}
the color, size and it's so comfortable
i find myself just sitting in it at night sometimes and already feel so relaxed
there is also a hanging air plant hanging above it
this rocking chair was mr. monaco's when he was a little boy
the air plant is from a local farmer's market {atherton mill for locals}
the lady is the sweetest!! my mom and i love her.
hanging over the crib
baby boy needed a wolf in his room
{wolf was my maiden name/holds a special place in my heart}
plus, i found him while shopping with my mom over thanksgiving- even better :)
i picked up these vintage pottery barn adventure blocks at salvaged beauty- an adorable vintage shop
art print in the glider area of the room
there are a few more pieces with his little name on it

{which we just love}
and will show later!
